Sturt Fleurieu – Educating Doctors for a Future in General Practice
View Brochure
Sturt Fleurieu offers registrars the opportunity to develop a broad skill set in a range of general practices with a supportive, interactive and well-structured program format, through our Innovative Education Delivery, Advanced Skills Development and Structured Practice Participation.
Sturt Fleurieu is based at Strathalbyn in the central Fleurieu Peninsula of South Australia (see map). The training region extends from southern metropolitan Adelaide, along the Fleurieu Peninsula and the north of the state, following the Sturt Highway through the Barossa Valley and along the Murray River into the Riverland.
This organisation was formed in early 2002 as part of a new Australia wide regional training provider network for GP vocational training under the direction of General Practice Education and Training (GPET), an initiative of the Commonwealth Government's Department of Health and Ageing.
Sturt Fleurieu is an incorporated not-for-profit association. The Management Committee, chaired by Dr Richard Johns comprises 10 members representing 5 regional Divisions of General Practice (Adelaide Hills, Barossa, Murray-Mallee, Riverland and Southern), one representative from ACRRM, RACGP, Flinders University, the registrar liaison officer and one invitee.
Sturt Fleurieu is contracted to deliver general practice training up until 31st December 2009.
