The role of the RLO is to provide information to, and facilitate communication between, GP Registrars and the Regional Training Provider. The RLO has several roles; the most important role for all the registrars is that of advocacy and representation. It provides an avenue for registrars to confidentially discuss any difficulties or issues they may have with their training. This may range from seeking general training information to helping deal with conflicts.
Whilst the RLO is employed by Sturt Fleurieu the position is established to allow independent review and presentation of issues to Sturt Fleurieu. The RLO sits on the Management Committee of Sturt Fleurieu and is also member of the Advisory Council of GPRA (GP Registrars Association), a non-profit association run by registrars to promote GP registrar issues on a national level. Other committee involvement includes such organisations as the AMA Council of GPs, AMA Doctors In Training (SA) and the General Practice Student Network.
The current Sturt Fleurieu RLOs are:
Dr Nyoli Valentine (Hallett Cove Corner Surgery) - 0417 084 565
Dr Trinh Tran (Gumeracha Medical Practice) - 0417 084 565
